Population in the sub-districts of Nain Feto and Kristu Rei in Dili handed in more than one thousand home-made and automatic weapons to the East Timor National Police in Dili Friday (5/9).
The weapons collected include unexploded devises, bazooka, machine guns, darts, air guns, home-made pistols, and bullets.
Before handing in these weapons, the community leaders from the two sub-districts signed an agreement with the PNTL to restrain themselves from violence.
Dili district PNTL Commander, Inspector Pedro Belo thanked the local population for handing in these illegal weapons to the arms collection team.
